Timée or the Star Sowers

Musical and dance performance

Timée, little prince or Pierrot lunaire, takes us on an odyssey of initiation to the sky and the stars. Singing, dancing and percussion intersect with the evocative sounds and shapes of sculptural instruments: Baschet crystal, cordobass and glass keyboards punctuate a lunar scenography of lights and vibrant images. Guided by the words of the children and the voices of the musicians, the audience is taken on a sensory journey that opens the doors of possibility to the far reaches of our imagination.

TIMÉE evokes the child’s questioning of the world and space. Between sky and earth, between the visible and the invisible, star-children and sowers of light take us on a moonlit stroll, in the footsteps of the Milky Way, in the heart of the solar winds… Movement, music, light and images resonate to create a poetic fable that is both spellbinding and sensitive.

TIMÉE was created in association with the Théâtre du Beauvaisis. The company went out to meet local children to explore their relationship with space and the cosmos. Their words fed into the dramaturgy and sound design of the show. Sensory poetry in our ears…

“Who is this child with his head in the stars? A dreamer? A philosopher? A poet? The Compagnie du Porte-Voix continues its sensitive exploration of music and dance, its intermingling of body, sound and visual languages, to evoke in this new show the child’s questions about the universe around him. The reference to Timaeus (the Pythagorean philosopher and namesake of one of Plato’s last dialogues) takes us into a poetic and suggestive universe rather than a theoretical cosmology. The child, like a demiurge, is at the heart of the fable, which the three performers tell in sound (using fascinating instruments such as the Cristal Baschet), words and movement, bathed in a superb scenography of lights and images”.
