Koom

Music and dance quartet

Combining dance and sound, KOOM takes us on a joyous journey to the heart of the metamorphoses of living matter.

In turn animal, mineral or plant, musicians and dancers move through a suspended forest, between primitive sea and primary forest. From waves to lianas, the artists reinforce each other to better transform themselves and change their point of view. Millions of years of evolution are fixed in a suspended moment as new myths emerge from the chaos of our world.

This show is an invitation to discover the inventiveness of nature, to embrace the strange, the unknown and the invisible, and to take an aesthetic, ecological and philosophical look at the world around us.

The Porte-Voix company is offering a triptych of creations that question the way in which human beings fit into their environment and advocate an ‘inseparable’ approach to living things. It consists of three shows that complement each other in form and audience appeal, OKA, KOOM and OKANINA.

“An invitation to look at and breathe nature, to connect with the elements as part of a whole. Whether mineral, vegetable or animal, the transformations of the living world are at work, and this show is a beautiful poetic evocation of them. Through danced movements, words and sounds that respond to each other, and images of a luxuriant nature made up of creepers and plants (textile creation, traditional instruments and light work), this quartet calls on the language of the imagination to make perceptible an “ecosophical” thought that questions the place of humans in their environment and their relationship to the world. Here, music that draws on tradition blends with powerful, rhythmic dance. A new way of connecting with the living.”
